Rep. Holly Jones' Legislation
A Record of Results
Jones sponsored legislation creating the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The measure provides that a child born alive following an abortion or attempted abortion is entitled to the same legal protections as any other child born alive. It also establishes a duty of care for health-care providers to preserve the life, health, and comfort of a child born alive in these circumstances. For Jones, the issue comes down to a simple principle: every child who is born alive deserves care and protection under the law.

Connecting the Dots Between Child and Animal Abuse
HB 2292, sponsored by Jones, modifies Missouri’s abuse and neglect reporting laws and requires certain professionals to report companion-animal abuse. The legislation recognizes that animal abuse can be an important warning sign of violence within a household. By improving communication between professionals, Jones emphasizes that recognizing warning signs early can help authorities intervene before abuse escalates and protect both vulnerable people and animals.
Food Is Medicine: Expanding Access to Nutrition
HB 2355 directs Missouri’s Department of Social Services to seek federal approval for a MO HealthNet waiver allowing nutrition services for participants with diet-related chronic conditions. The proposal includes medically tailored meals, nutrition counseling, and access to fresh produce. Jones described this as giving people tools to make healthier choices, connecting health care, nutrition, and prevention for Missouri families.
Expanding Access to Ivermectin
HB 2293 proposes allowing ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine tablets to be purchased over the counter rather than requiring a prescription. This legislation reflects Jones’ broader emphasis on individual choice and access to health-care options, Building on earlier work to give Missourians more control over their own health-care decisions and expanding access to options currently restricted.
Standing Against Human Trafficking
As chair of the Children and Families Committee, Jones has fought to protect vulnerable children from sexual exploitation and trafficking. She has pushed for coordinated responses so Missouri can identify victims early, hold predators accountable, and prevent exploitation. Jones believes these critical safety issues can transcend political lines to protect the most vulnerable in our society.
